Tour description

This is not a party crawl, but a cultural experience with flavor. Ideal for curious travelers with an interest in local life, lesser-known landmarks, and the timeless role of beer in Prague’s social fabric. Take in the city from above and explore its quieter corners on a tour that pairs panoramic views with Prague’s most atmospheric pubs and time-honored beers.

We begin with a scenic funicular ride up Petrin Hill, where the crowds thin and leafy paths lead us toward stories rarely heard in the main square. Our first stop is a small, unpretentious beerhouse beside the park, beloved by locals for what many claim is one of the finest Pilsners in town — expertly poured, crisp, and consistent.

From there, the route unfolds on foot: through gardens, past monasteries, and into the heart of Lesser Town. At the Strahov Monastery Brewery, we’ll sample a range of small-batch beers, including a bold, locally brewed wheat beer — a style nearly forgotten in Czechia during the long reign of Pilsner, now reinvented on-site in a fresh and faithful take on brewing traditions older than the castle itself.

There are four carefully chosen beer stops along the way, each offering a different angle on Czech brewing culture. Expect a variety of lagers and unique seasonal beers, served with traditional pub snacks — from pickled cheeses to open-faced sandwiches — all in venues with deep local character.

One such stop evokes the feel of a medieval tavern, though it’s only a few decades old — a favorite haunt of lunchtime regulars that includes everyone from civil servants to Czech politicians. Along the route, we pass through Loreta Square, the poetic lanes of Nový Svět, and by the former home of a world-renowned Czech surrealist. The walk continues past the exterior of Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral, before winding down through Golden Lane at a time of day when its gates are open and its stories are easier to hear.

The tour concludes in the Kampa Island district of Malá Strana, where we join the early evening rhythm at a neighborhood pub known for its welcoming open mic nights and excellent rotating beer selection — a relaxed and genuine setting to reflect on the day’s discoveries.
