Tuesday Open Mic and Jam Session

he much loved open mic at the Napa Bar goes back to the early 2000s, when a bunch of friends occasionally jammed on the slow Sunday or Monday nights. Soon, it turned into a regular event and has now been running for some 15 years.In its February 2017 edition, the Sunday Times magazine describes Napa as a “refuge for musicians”, after their journalists accidentally ran into an Open Mic or late night jam session.

Since July 2025, the open mic is held every Tuesday in the main room of the bar, right by the entrance. The crowd, performers and audience alike, are mostly locals (both Czech and expats). If you want to make new friends in Prague, this is definitely a great place to do so.

Equipment

• house guitar (nylon strings)
• active speakers with built-in PA
• 2 Microphone stands, 1 microphone

Program

• 19h: doors open
• 19.30: 1st set by the host (Rod Ragan, Noe Cortes, Archie Noble)
• 15-20 minutes sets by whoever shows up and signs up
• 23h end of official program

Sets

Every performer, individual or band, plays a set of up to 10-20 minutes, depending on how many musicians show up. It isn’t unusual to play more than one set or, if the audience likes it and there aren’t too many musicians.
