Leave the cobbled streets behind and hop on a bike for a half day of scenic cycling, beer tasting and lunch, and unexpected discoveries on Prague’s southern edge. This small-group ride (max. 8 people) takes you far from the tourist circuit — through leafy parks, riverside trails, and reminders od industrial pride — with a beer or two along the way.

Join me on a 3 hrs pub walk through the Old and New Town, with stops at four pubs and a traditional delicatessen, before finishing at Prague’s first and most prominent beer geek temple for a unique experience: Tapping Bavarian lagers directly from the keg.
We meet at 11 am at the “Bike Cave” by the Náplavka river embankment for bike fitting, then start our tour by 11.30. Please wear comfortable leisure clothes suitable for cycling. Don’t forget your camera for great photo opportunities.

We’ll first take our bikes from the Vyšehrad service point of Transphere bikes (The Bike Cave), grab a liter of fresh water each and head off towards South on the A2 cycling path, always following the river. No cars, no hassle.

This is one of the best choices for a cycling tour in the Prague area, ideal for a half-day ride with plenty of variety — architecture, history, and nature in one smooth route without climbs and mostly on dedicated bike paths.
Highlights and finish
The route is a highlight in itself, as are the lunch and beer samples at the brewery. Memorable sites along the route include the Cubist buildings at the foot of the Vyšehrad fortress, the industrial gems of the Prague waterworks, and the Branik bridge called “Bridge of the intelligentsia” colloquially due to the troubled history of post-war Czechoslovakia.
Tour description
This relaxed cycling tour begins at the striking Cubist buildings below Vyšehrad, then follows the Vltava River south along the scenic A2 bike path. We pass Prague’s landmark Podolí maternity hospital, historic waterworks, the lively summer zone of Žluté lázně, and the monumental swimming stadium.
From there, it’s a gentle ride past the crumbling mystery of the Braník ice storage tunnels, through Modřany Park, and into the lush Komořany nature reserve — a peaceful escape from the city’s buzz, all without leaving the riverside. Near the town of Zbraslav (now a municipality of Prague), we’ll stop at the riverside taproom U Posledního Kelta — a legendary open-air joint among Czech beer geeks, known for rare, rotating taps and affordable tasty snacks.
We cross the Lahovičky bridge into the district of Radotín, where we’ll stop for a relaxing lunch and a guided tasting at the local brewery — one of the area’s most consistent and innovative microbreweries, family-owned and operated.
The return ride takes us along the A1 cycling path, skimming the Vltava back toward central Prague. On the way, we pass by the city’s longest legal graffiti wall, pause at the surreal “Musoleum” of David Černý, and finish with one last pint at a cozy craft brewery in Smíchov’s Anděl neighborhood.
Important note: In the Czech Republic, there is a zero-tolerance policy for driving under the influence, and this applies to cyclists as well. However, you can enjoy a beer before or after your cycling activity, but not while cycling. In our case, it is safe to have a couple of small beers (during the tour and at the brewery tasting, alongside with lunch). We’ll have more beer at the end of the tour in Prague.
